FIELD TRIP FEBRUARY 2014

Every students loves a good field trip, but how many can go to Disney World for their field trip?  I counted four days of our Disney vacation as school days as we focused on educational things at the parks.  We saw Birds In Flight at Animal Kingdom, learning about different types of birds, where they live, and what kinds of things they eat.  The kiddos stopped to take a quiz about where different animals lived outside of the safari ride after seeing and hearing about the different animals they seen.  Then, we hopped a train over to Rafiki's Planet Watch in Animal Kingdom and learned about different animal habitats as well as research Disney is doing to help better care for some of these creatures.  The little ones walked through their petting zoo and learned a little about the care given to their goats, pigs, and a miniature horse.  They were able to pet the animals and comb them as well.  A great hands-on learning experience at Disney!!

Then we visited Disney's Epcot park for 2 days and toured the world.  It is hard to see everything in one day.  We walked through all the countries exhibits discovering things about their cultures, foods, and entertainment.  We stopped in Norway one day and enjoyed some traditional Norwegian foods for lunch while dining with some Disney Princessess.  We bought some German chocolate in Germany and Japanese candy fruit chews in Japan.  We tasted Moroccan food in Morroco and some good ole American funnel cakes.  We watched short films about Canada, America, China, and France learning about their lands, people, and culture.  We also went through Innovations and learned about fire safety, saving money, and many other things.  There was just so much we were able to see and learn.

The last day I counted was mainly for the little ones.  At Magic Kingdom,  we spent a day looking for hidden Mickeys, exploring the Swiss Family Treehouse and Tom Sawyer's Island.  We also went through the hall of Presidents and the Carousel of Progress.  All great learning experiences for young and old.

I think if you ask my children, they would agree with me that this was THE BEST FIELD TRIP EVER!!!  While we were in Orlando for 2 weeks,  I just counted the 4 days we focused on learning.  The other days were just good family fun!!  The pictures I posted were the ones from my phone,  I have many more on my camera that maybe I'll add one day when I have more time.

This definitely was a field trip that will be hard to top!!
